Law on Employment of Foreign Nationals

In focus: On November 25th 2014, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Law on Employment of Foreign Nationals (hereinafter the “Law”). The Law entered into force on December 4th 2014, with the exception of provisions in Articles 5 – 8 which shall be applied from the day of accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union.

The Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Labor Law – 2014

In focus: The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on July 18th, 2014 adopted the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Labor Law, which has been published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia no. 75/2014 and entered into force on July 29th, 2014 (hereinafter referred to as: the “Amendments to the Law”), except the provisions of Article 54 of the Amendments to the Law regulating the statement of account of salary and compensation of salary, which shall be applied upon 30 days from the date of entering of the Amendments to the Law into force, i.e. from August 29th, 2014.

Project completion – US Embassy

The protocol announcing the legal completion of construction of the US Embassy in Belgrade was signed on May 15th 2014. The legal team of CSJ was led by Goran Cvetkovic, attorney and general manager of the entire project worth 130 million USD.

Grand opening of the US Embassy

The grand opening of the new United States Embassy in Belgrade was held on July 1st 2013. This project worth 130 million USD was entrusted to CSJ as legal advisors, with Goran Cvetkovic heading the legal team and acting in the capacity of general manager of the entire project.

Harmonization of limited liability companies with the Company Law

In focus: the new Company Law (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” no. 36/2011 dated May 27th, 2011) has entered into force on June 4th, 2011, and its application shall commence as of February 1st, 2012, except for several provisions which shall be applied as of January 1st, 2014.

Law on Maintenance of Residential Buildings

On April 20th 2011, the Decision of the Constitutional Court was announced in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia no. 27/2011, declaring as unconstitutional provisions of the Law on Maintenance of Residential Buildings („Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia“ no. 44/95,46/98 and 1/01) which prescribe that the assembly of the building’s tenants, by consent of the owners of apartments and other detached parts of the building who own more than half of the total surface of apartments and other detached parts of the building, can render certain decisions as described in the integral text.

Law on Enforcement and Security

In focus: the new Law on Enforcement and Security (hereinafter referred to as: the “Law”) was published in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” no. 31/2011 on May 09th, 2011, entered into force on May 17th, 2011 and began to apply on September 17th, 2011. The Law contains solutions whose aim is to make the enforcement procedure faster and more efficient.
